Reference

Reference Services helps patrons with all aspects of their information needs. Our Reference faculty and staff are knowledgeable about the library and the World Wide Web. The Reference desk, located on the first floor, is the place to begin your research. We can help with print or electronic resources on just about any topic, and we can help you with either MLA or APA format questions. Need statistical information? Want to learn to search the WWW efficiently? Not sure where to go in the library? Stop by the Reference desk - we are there to help you succeed.

You can also ask your questions via email and IM (Instant Messager) by using the Ask a Librarian service. Our philosophy is that there are no stupid questions just questions never asked. Be smart and ask for help! We want to help you.

There are numerous user guides, subject specific guides, and guides to help with searching each database. These are located in the guide racks in front and on the side of the Reference desk.

Contact the Reference Department at 409-880-7264. The toll free number for the Reference desk is 866-375-5565. Or click here for a list of Reference personnel.

Faculty members who would like to schedule a library instruction session for a class can use the online form or contact Theresa Hefner-Babb, Instruction Coordinator, at 409-880-2135 or email Theresa.Hefner-Babb@lamar.edu.
